Default How old are your tires?

Posted this on jaxracing...thought some here might find it interesing.

Evidently ABC News did a story on this about a month ago. While the video is long and drawn out, I got something out of it...I never knew that tires had a "born on" date. It's the last 3-4 digits of DOT numbers.

So, if the last digits are "414," the tire was made in the 41st week of 1994. If the last digits are "1806," then the tire was made in the 18th week of 2006.

I found it interesting because I drive the Sierra so little that the tires last a LONG time. The ones on there now were made in 2002-2003. My question is...is there any creedence to the theory that tires "expire?"

Yeah, there's an expiration date. Just ask the tire manufacturer that's affiliated with NBC.
