Dad's at his wits end with their Caddy...
Had to have it towed home a couple of weeks ago...got in, and it wouldn't start. Dad took the starter off and had it tested (it's under the intake manifold!) and it's good. But, the car isn't getting power to the starter. Whenever he turns the key, the lights inside dim. That's it, doesn't even try to turn over.
He's checked all of the fuses and relays, and they're all good. Any ideas of things that he can check for? Any idea where he can take it to get it fixed other than the Caddy dealer?

Just thinking out loud..
Sounds like a short or a drain of sorts? Lights shouldnt dim like that.. Where is Tracy or Brad the Dakota legend?

the BCM went out on Amery's car a few months ago, and that sounds like the symptoms..

Battery's good, and he got the car to turn over, but not crank when he sent power to the starter directly.

I'm not kidding about the BCM, (body control module). I checked everything, starter, battery, ign. switch...turns out the BCM was bad. Got one off ebay for like $40 (used). The BCM controls EVERYTHING on the inside.
